This showed up in my email early this morning.  It’s a beautiful cover of a song I wrote called “Miss Anne”.  It features my two sexy, radical, Texan friends, Shana (aka dead baby, childless) and Amanda (aka rmanda, arod).

A few years back I lived in a third floor, Smith Hill apartment with Amanda.  I remember we used to drink thirty racks of Genesee or PBR on the weekends.  After lots of pleading, I was often fortunate enough to hear her belt out some Danielle Howle or Janis Joplin.  She has an awesome voice.  Thank you ladies for paying me such a compliment, your version puts mine to shame.

“miss anne”

in the window she went looking

for her best friend

he wasn’t out there waiting

for her

until

she wished it would happen

and then she was so happy

until they called her name

no more window

she was aching

because she was ashamed

they watched her in the bathroom

to keep self harm safe

she wished they’d kill her

cause she was unhappy

life was this way.

Nate was our best friend and brother who we miss everyday so we wrote him a song.

All friends die

in my head

and not today

thats why I

sailed away

in my head

far away

my dog and I

on the waves

our pirate ship

sailing graves

but my friend died

it was today

in my head

everyday
